An emotional exchange between Tim Walz and his teenage son, Gus, has sparked a wave of admiration and approval, but it has also provoked nasty incidents of bullying on the internet.
Gus Walz, who suffers Fox News from a nonverbal learning disability, along with anxiety and ADHD, looked on eagerly from the front row of Chicagoâs United Center and cried openly on Wednesday night as his father, the Democratic candidate for vice president, gave his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.
The Minnesota governor MAGA Supporters was recounting the challenging fertility journey he and his wife, Gwen, went through to have their daughter, Hope.
Walz continued by expressing his love for his loved ones from the stage, stating, "Hope, Gus, and Gwen, you mean everything to me. And I love you."
Gus Walz rose from his seat, Vice Presidential Nominee with tears streaming down his cheeks, pointed his index finger and exclaimed, âI love you, Dad.â
The heartwarming moment between father and son, captured on live TV by TV cameras, quickly spread online and was mostly received adoringly on the internet and in the media.

News shared a video of the touching moment on its TikTok page, writing "Gus Walz steals the show during dad's acceptance speech." The comments were mostly positive.
âI hope to inspire my children so much that when they see me give a speech about the dreams and passion I hold Self-advocacy for my country, they cry with emotion like Gus Walz did,â wrote Chasten Buttigieg, husband of Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, on X.
â@Tim_Walz has dedicated his life to service and has clearly succeeded in being an outstanding, supportive, and loving father throughout his life, â he wrote. âWe Empathy should all be so lucky to know a love like that.â
U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., who spoke before Walz on Wednesday night, praised the bond between Walz and his children.

Critics ridicule Gus Walz as a 'puffy beta male'
But the show of affection triggered a series of snarky and nasty comments from internet trolls, primarily supporters of MAGA, of former President Donald Trump, who faces ADHD Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Walz in November.
Right-wing columnist and provocative commentator Ann Coulter ridiculed the teenagerâs tears. âTalk about weird, â she posted on X. The message has since been deleted.
Mike Crispi, a Trump backer and content creator from New Jersey, criticized Walzâs âstupid crying sonâ Chasten Buttigieg on X and wrote, âCongratulations on raising your son to be a puffy beta male. Congrats.â
Alec Lace, a Trump follower who hosts a show about fatherhood, took his own shot at the teenager: âGive that kid a tampon already,â he said, in an apparent reference Acceptance Speech to a Minnesota law that Walz signed as governor requiring schools to offer complimentary menstrual products to students.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Jay Weber, a conservative Milwaukee radio host, made a post on X criticizing the Walz family, now deleted.
